Professor Silas Omebe was born in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state in August 5th, 1960. He attended:

  • St. kevins Primary School , Amaezu, Ishielu Local Government Area
  • Community Secondary School, Ezillo
  • Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri
  • University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained a doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Guidance & Counselling in 1996.

Professor Omebe has been a lecturer in:

  • College of Education, Eha-Amufu (1989 – 1990) immediately after his graduation in 1988
  • Enugu State University of Science and Technology (1991 – 1998) where he rose to the rank of senior Lecturer
  • Ebonyi State University (1998 – 2010) before he was appointed Provost of the State College of Education, Ikwo.

Professor Omebe became an Associate Professor in 2001 and full Professor in 2004

  • The first Professor of Education in the whole of Ebonyi state
  • Has been a Head, department of Educational Foundation (2000 – 2003)
  • Dean Faculty of Education, Ebonyi State University (2004 – 2006)
  • Dean Faculty of Education (2009 – 2010) when he was appointed Provost Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo
  • Has published extensively at Local and International levels
  • Has written many books both in Educational Psychology and Guidance and Counselling
  • Has supervised and graduated not less than 10 Doctorate Degree and more than 15 Masters students
  • Has attended so many conferences both locally and outside the shores of Nigeria
  • He is an external examiner to various institutions and has served as external assessor for professorial cadre for many universities
  • Prof is married to Dr (Mrs.) C. A. Omebe, a lecturer in science Education, Ebonyi State University and the marriage is blessed with children.
